Ski jumpers set to soar on July 3 LAKE PLACID — The tradition dates back to the beginning of the 20th century and will continue, Saturday, July 3, when ski jumpers take to the Olympic Jumping Complex for the beginning of the summer jumping season. The July 3 winner will have a leg up on the 2010 Art Devlin Cup chase. This is a season-long series that includes the July 3 event, the Flaming Leaves meet in October and the Masters Ski Jump in December. The day begins at 1 p.m. with the first of two official rounds. Admission to the event is $15 for adults, $9 for juniors and seniors and includes a chairlift ride and an elevator ride to the top of the 120-meter ski jump. Tee times will begin promptly at 9 a.m. The tournament will consist of three flights for both boys and girls — ages 12-14, 15-16 and 17-18. It’s Open Doors At Manx Gymnastics This Weekend Posted: 30 Jun 2010 06:39 AM PDT On Sunday 4th July from 1.00pm to 4.00pm, Manx Gymnastics are inviting the public to come and have a look at their facilities and join in with their summer fayre and car boot sale. Under the guidance of experienced and qualified coaches, children we will be able to try some of the apparatus and find out what gymnastics is really all about. Parents needn't feel left out though, there will be a couple of gymnastics/fitness based challenges for you to try too and show the children what a great gymnasts you could have been!
| Throughout the afternoon there will be gymnastics displays and face painting, refreshments and gamestalls etc for all the family. Details of the classes the club provides will be available along with details of current spaces for new members to join. Based at the Ian Bradshaw Unified Sports Centre, on Glencrutchery Rd in Douglas, Manx Gymnastics has been providing gymnastics classes for children of pre-school age through to early adulthood for over 22 years and continues to go from strength to strength, sending some of its gymnasts to participate in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi later this year. The Club provides classes for all levels and abilities, includig open sessions for carers and pre-school tots, coached pre-school sessions, recreational and competitive gymnastics classes and also caters for gymnasts with Special Needs. It is a fully affiliated member of British Gymnastics, running classes throughout the week.
