AHS completes OCL run with five league titles

ATTLEBORO - In its final year in the Old Colony League, Attleboro High School sports teams earned five league championships in 2009-10. The Bombardiers will become the 10th member of the Hockomock League this fall.

Attleboro's five league championship teams this past school year were the boys' soccer, boys' cross-country, boys' basketball, girls' fall cheer and coed cheer squads. A total of 70 Attleboro student-athletes were named OCL All-Stars.

Fourteen Bombardiers teams qualified for the state tournament during the 2009-10 school year. They were:

*Girls' field hockey

*Boys' soccer *Golf

*Boys' cross-country

*Girls' cheerleading

*Boys' basketball

*Girls indoor track & field

*Boys' indoor track & field *Ice hockey

*Coed cheerleading

*Girl's spring track & field

*Boys' spring track & field

*Boy's tennis

*Girls' softball

The school's annual Howard O'Hare Award winners were Matt Campbell, who played football, basketball and baseball, and Emilie Ouellette, who competed in field hockey, indoor track & field, gymnastics and spring track & field. The awards are presented to the school's most outstanding male and female student-athletes.

"Overall it was a successful year in sports for Attleboro High School," said Athletic Director Mark Houle. "We're always striving to do better, of course, but we had a good number of league champions and All-Stars. We're looking forward to participating in the Hockomock League this fall."
