North Sports and Recreation: Hanley Center Foundation's 10th annual Golf Scramble is Sept. 26 Posted: 15 Sep 2010 07:01 AM PDT The Palm Beach Soccer Academy Nomads U11 boys travel soccer team won the SCI Labor Day Showcase in Sarasota. The competition was Sept. 4-6 at the Sarasota Polo Club. The Nomads went 4-0 during the competition and won the championship game 4-3 on penalty kicks against the Clearwater Soccer Club Red. Team members are: Callan Walker, Felipe Fernandez, Jared Amrose, Jackson Cohlan, Cameron Murphy, Alexander Morrison, Aston Crosbie, Cobey Gragg, Zachary Stoloff, David Fennell, Thiago Abreu and Drin Mahmuti. Bill Songhurst is the coach. Gym Like This! celebrated National Gymnastics & Fitness Day Sept. 1 with an open house at its facility near Riviera Beach. The free event included open gym activities and demonstrations, a kids fitness obstacle course, bounce house and giveaways. "We're making sure kids know and parents know the importance of being physically fit," Gym Like This! owner/coach Jenn Allen said. "Gymnastics is a great foundation." Chandler Pacl scored twice and Zybe DeForest added a goal. Josh Morris had two saves and one assist. Austin Navarro had two assists. Tassano had five goals in the 9-8 win over Crescenta Valley. J.D. heard, Rogelio Coronado, DeForest and Pacl added goals. Morris had five saves and one assist. Tassano had two saves. Navarro, Coronado and Frankie Tomasello had an assist. SOCCER ELKS SHOOTOUT The Ventura Elks and Ventura AYSO Region 39 will host a soccer skills shootout on Sunday staring at 1 p.m. New will be the 8U Division with players kicking for goal target and scoring points. Every players gets a warm-up kick and three shots at each goal. A maximum of 45 points can be scored. There will be divisions for U10-19 as they compete for shooting and goalkeeper honors. GYMNASTICS OUT OF THIS WORLD Coach Patty's School of Gymnastics will host the Out of This World Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Camarillo. The is a compulsory meet for levels 3-6 with clubs from Southern California competing. In addition, Coach Patty's Gymnastics has been awarded the Southern California Women's Gymanstics North Sectional Competition, a qualifying meet for the California championships. A two-event optional meet will be held in Camarillo in December, with a team, coming from Australia. The Snowflake Invitational will be held Jan. 22-23, 2011. The SoCal Tumbling and Trampoline second preliminary on Feb, 12-13, 2011, the first time in Ventura County. The Final Frontier Invitational Gymnastic levels 3-Elite meet will be March 5-6, 2011.
