Villegas, of the Manila Gymnastics Club, claimed two gold and two silver medals to match the output of Chew, a member of the Singaporean team Prime, in leading the top performers in the event that drew 210 gymnasts. Gonzalez, 12, representing the Philippine Gymnastics and Athletics Association and an eight-year veteran of the Lucero Cup, also came up with a double-gold performance on top of a silver and a bronze, reigning supreme in Level 5. Mckenzie Kinsella, 12, of International School Manila, snared two gold medals and a silver to finish second overall in Level 5. She and Gonzales tied for first in the bars. Ronnie Nolido, 8, of Club Gymnastica, who topped the Level 3 competition last year, showed remarkable improvement and stamped his mark in Level 4 action with two gold medals and a silver. Erin Evangelista ranked second with three silver medals. "Milo has been always been supportive of sports activities like this. Truly, you will be inspired at how passionate and hardworking the participants are," said Lucero, a former champion gymnast in Southeast Asia, who won an Olympic bronze in taekwondo when the sport debuted as a demonstration event in the 1992 Barcelona Games. "These kinds of tournaments sponsored by Milo help them showcase their talents and give them exposure," she added. Susan Talingting of the organizing Club Gymnastica was impressed by the level of competition in this year's event and expressed confidence more champions will be produced with the support of Milo. "We have the same objectives in helping children reach their dreams through sports," Talingting said. Milo public relations executive Lester Castillo said events like the Lucero Cup that build champions in sports and in life will be supported by Milo for years to come. "Milo will always be there to develop talents in the grassroots level. You can never go wrong with sports," said Castillo. "Milo will be there all the way as we continue to build champions in life."
